A bit of a break for me this week, but for you some cool guestmixes will take up much of the week’s show.

The first is a new coming once again from the selector from Vienna known as S.O.S. aka Lady Smiles. She’s just launched her new music label called Smiles Recordings, and was kind enough to put together another set of music for you. The mix is exclusive to the show.

Also exclusive provided to you is a mix coming from Domu. Going way back as far as the peak drum n’bass days under the guise of Sonar Circle, he’s better known as one of the pioneers of the broken beat music scene. Broken isn’t all he’s produced though, as he’s put out some downbeat science under his Umod alias (that’s Domu spelled backwards, for those of you who weren’t quick to catch it). He’s also been producing other artists, one of which, Nicola Kramer, has dropped a new full-length fully produced by Domu on his label Treble-O. Speaking of which, the label has been going strong for over the year with releases garnering critical acclaim. He was gracious enough to pass along what will be the second mix on this week’s show.

Be sure to check out the web site, as there’s new content that’s now available including videos on the making of Swell Session’s new album “Swell Communications,” as well as a start of a new series of profiles…with one just posted about the online community Beyondjazz.

Enjoy, and stay good!

Video: Swell Session’s Swell Communications Part Two

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Today is the first time that I’ve attempted to embed a video, and oy…I’m getting some funny stuff while attempting to post both videos in the same post. I’m sure there’s a way to make that happen, and I’ll deal with it later.

For now, here’s Part Two of the video. Savor it!

Video: Swell Session’s Swell Communications

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Time to start to kick up the video ante here.

Andreas Saag, aka Swell Sessions, is one of the extremely talented young musicians out of Gothenberg, Sweden. He’s part of a tight-knit group of friends who have established the “Gonky” sound (Gonky = “good” and “funky”)…from Gonkyburg, indeed!

He’s perhaps the best-known of the group, having amassed a body of original works and remixes that have earned him kudos the world over.

After many years in wait, a proper Swell Session album has been released back in September. Called Swell Communications, the album has been four years in the making. The follow-up to his album under the guise of Stateless, it’s collaborations galore here. From locals such as Elsa Esmerelda and Ernesto to renowed global talent such as Domu, Landslide and Sleepwalker, the album showcases the full Swell Session vibe.

In tandem with the album’s release comes a behind-the-scenes video “The Making of Swell Communications,” broken into two parts. Below is Part One. So have a view, and enjoy!
