The Urban Landscapes Radioshow 10.42

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

For this week’s show, once again Wagon Cookin puts it down for a new guestmix. The duo from Spain, whose 2Faces album was released this past summer on Compost, has lent the tunes from the album to others to remix. Some of what you’ll hear are blended in the mix, and will soon be released in EP form.

They’ll be no show next week due to Thanksgiving Day in the United States. The next show will be the last regular Urban Landscapes of 2007. After that, the last two shows of the year will take a look back at the quality music put out this year. It’s “The Most Recommended Music of 2007,” where Part One (broadcasting live on Thursday December 6) will focus on the albums and Part Two the singles and EP’s (Thursday December 13).

If you are in Los Angeles shortly after the New Year celebrations, be sure to mark your calendar for January 4th as Urban Landscapes will be celebrating 10 years on the air. More details on the event are forthcoming.

Back atcha in two weeks.

The Urban Landscapes Radioshow 10.41

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

This show is a “Plan B” broadcast. By that, I mean that it’s what I do when I somehow leave a whole bunch of music elsewhere that I’ve intended to play on the week’s show. Yep, some of what you’ll hear are part of the mix, but there’s more that, well, will now have to wait for next week’s show.

But what was part of the plan was the week’s Urban Landscapes Guestmix from Gerry O’Rourke, also known as the artist Oblique. He’s the man behind the UK-based Foundation Music label. If you’re a fan of the show, you know that the label can veer from broken vibes to deep tech-house, and sometimes throw down other styles. I’ve played mixes from him on the show before, so it’s good to welcome him back with a rather eclectic mix for you to savor and enjoy.

So soak up the music, and I’ll be back atcha next week. Aight?! Aight!
