The Identity of Contributors’ Individual Postings Are Now Displayed More Clearly

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Hello:
As promised, I’ve fixed things up so that you can now clearly see who’s written a new post. Before this, the only way you could find out the author of the post was to visit the site’s home page. As some of you have alerted me to, and as I’ve found out myself, a single posting on a page doesn’t list the author’s name. Since I was the only person doing so up until a few months ago, it made sense.

But now with a number of contributors added to the fold, it became necessary to ensure that the proper authors are given their just due. Thy will be done, and now it is. Hope this helps out everyone.

I have decided to do the new site again from scratch, so it’s going to be awhile. Because of this, it made it all the more important for me to dig in and ensure that the proper authors are out there front-and-center.

Thanks for your patience; stay good.

Confusion on Contributors

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

As you may know, I’ve asked others to contribute to the web site. Knowing that more than one person can add a variety of views and dimensions, so far about five people have came through, with more to come.

As I’ve recently learned from both contributors and readers, there’s a bit of confusion as to whether a posting was done by a contributor or by me. Though you can read the name of the contributor if viewing the posting on the site’s home page, there’s no way to tell if you were to view an individual post by itself.

I was going to hold off on fixing the issue until the new site is up. Giving that I’m a bit behind with that, I plan to put the fixes on this current iteration as a workaround until I have time to include it with the new site. Look for the fix within the next few days. When done, you’ll be able to see the name of the actual contributor for any individual posting you choose.

I’ve been exceptionally backlogged, and since I’m attending a tech conference this coming week I may or may not have time to catch up still. At the least, this annoyance is minor and can be remedied fairly easily.

Thanks for the feedback; keep ‘em coming.

And by the way, big ups to Abstract Butta Fingaz, the newest contributor to the site who’s posted Black Experience circa 2008; enlightening, given recent attention from a certain Democratic presidential campaign. When I’m done ramping up the new site, you’ll get a proper bio on this mover and shaker who you’re going to hear more of in due time.

Thanks for reading; peace.

The Urban Landscapes Radioshow 11.11

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Just as I’m now finally getting caught up at least with posting the shows comes the fact that this will be the last show of March. They’ll be no show this coming week, so look for the next new broadcast come the first week of April.

As this week is the Winter Music Conference in all of his happenin’ party glory in Miami, I’ve chosen this year to give it a rest. It’s a blast no doubt, but it’s a great deal of work for me when I’m there and this year I needed a little bit of a break. The week really is what one makes of it…it can be all work, all play, or a bit of both. I must say that having gone through over 1,500 photos and coming up with 800 that are satisfactory, and given that I’ve decided early on that doing interviews wasn’t really all that feasible under the circumstances, nevertheless it was worth the time.

I’ve met plenty of cool folks, both for the first time and for reacquaintance of others. They’ll be new people who are there for whom, unfortunately, I’ll be missing out on this time around. Still, I hope that everyone there have a great time this week. I’m planning to return in 2009.

In the meantime, please enjoy this week’s edition of the show. Back atcha in two weeks’ time. Peace.

The Black Experience circa 2008

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I have recently been reminded that I am black. I went to school in SLO so I think I started thinking, hhhmmm, maybe I’m just a citizen of the human race.

HELL NAW.

Obama had to F*&k it up and tell everybody he was black!

LMBBAO!!!

I recently DJed an event called SOMBFAB! (some of my best friends are black). This phrase has been used excessively. To the point where it is up there with the ‘N’ word. So we took it and re-invented it(just like we did with Christianity) and made it a party to be celebrated. I played: Hall & Oats, Prince, Micheal Jackson but I also played Prince Sunny Ade, Prince Nico Mbarga and managed to end up with Smokie Robinson.

All these entail the black experience. We have been constantly at the forefront of the modus operandi and we still are. The black man will re-invent anything, we ooze of creativity. Just look at Hip hop. We sampled everything from mozart to Johnny Cash and even some monastic chants here and there.

It’s wild yo! listening to Owusu sounding like Mike. Celebrate with us, cause weather you know it or not, some of YOUR best friends are black too.

Okie dokie, it’s about time that you’re up-to-date with the latest show. And from the studios of KCPR, no less (unlike the last couple of shows).

The tradeoff, though, was a missing headphone adapter, making it unusable on the station’s turntable. Then my needles were at home too, so had to use the station’s needles which have been, well, very used. While I was able to use headphones, they belong to the station, and really one ear was working mighty crappy.

But I somehow came through on the other side, and there’s a good amount of fresh music for you to sink your teeth into. So have at it, and thanks again for listening.
