The Urban Landscapes Radioshow Fan Page Now on Facebook

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Greetings to All:
I just wanted to send out a little notice that after sitting on it for months and months, the radioshow’s Facebook fan page is now live.

This means that Facebook users can stay on top of what’s happening with the show. About the same time that the playlist is posted, you’ll be notified of this, and can view it on the page. You can also listen to the most recent podcast, view select videos from artists in our special music scene, and more.

Do yourself a favor and be counted as a fan. It’s just another way of keeping you in the know with the music and the show.

Spread the word, and thanks for reading!

Urban Landscapes on Hold til September

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Greetings Folks:
If you are awaiting last Thursday’s show, it’ll be arriving a little late. Look for it sometime this week.

There are a number of things that I wish to catch up on, plus I’m in need of some quality Velanche time. To that end, the Urban Landscapes Radioshow will take a break from now until September.

There will still be some postings on the site during the show’s hiatus, so stay tuned.

Feel free to hit me up for whatever your needs are, and keep in touch!

Peace.

DJ Cosmo Launches New Label Showcasing The Loft

Monday, May 26th, 2008

This is the bulk of an email that legendary DJ and tastemaker DJ Cosmo has sent out last week. Vinylheads rejoice!

Dear Friends,
We are ecstatic to give birth to The Loft’s very first official record label:
The Loft Audiophile LIbrary of Music.

Our objective is to re-issue selected master recordings, and release them in the highest audiophile quality vinyl recording 12-inch singles on 180 gram vinyl and 45 rpm. Mastering will be handled by the legendary audiophile engineer Stan Rickman who did the mastering of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” amongst many other great recordings.

In times of audio quality compromise due to new technological advancement (i.e. digital convenience) that is ultimately decreasing the value of music in general (i.e. standardisation of the mp3 format), we believe this concept is a solution to our striving passion for music appreciation, quality and the preservation thereof which ultimately gives a choice to the global music fans of today.

Our mission statement is “To share authentic musical information (musical recordings, energy, history, messages, visions, emotions, expressions, creativity and artistic integrity) through quality playback.”

The first release is “My Favourite Things”, the Studio Version by Alfredo de la Fe and the Live Version by The Latin Percussion Jazz Ensemble. It sounds absolutely amazing!

If you’re unable to make the parties but are itching in buying some wax, get in touch and I’ll pass the info on to her.

She’s also on Myspace, as well.

Peace.

No Urban Landscapes This Week

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Hello, Good People:
I was all fired up to bring you a brand new show, then I got hit with hay fever and that really slowed me down.

I’m recovering, though still not 100%. I hope that I’ll be fully recovered by next week’s show, at which time I’m going to make up for some time by delivering to you a three-hour broadcast.

Watch out for more soon; have a good weekend!

What’s Happening, What’s Coming

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Hello, Beautiful People!

It’s been a long minute, and so much has been happening that I’ve been overwhelmed to the hilt. After taking two steps back, I’ll be coming back atcha with things.

The refresh of the show’s web site has had to take a back seat for awhile, but it’s coming back soon. Expect now for the look of the site to change come early summer. They’ll be more info, as well as easier ways to find the info you want. Expect more videos, more audio clips, more reviews, more interviews, and more contributions from the new contributors around the globe. That’s coming up.

You’ll note that I have not posted charts in recent months. This goes along with the crazy/busy stuff life has thrown at me. So coming soon, I’ll have a super-sized chart of music that I’ve been feeling these last few months. Then from June onward, the charts should resume monthly as per usual.

I have two interviews in the can, and a third upcoming. I hope to have one of the interviews online by week’s end; I think you’ll enjoy it. The other one will probably get posted a week later.

Last week’s show was a really good one, and I’m looking forward to having it posted. I hope to accomplish this within a day or two, so watch for it. I’m very pleased with the fresh music coming left and right, proof positive that the quality of the music hasn’t subsided in the least.

Finally, I was persuaded by a local DJ friend to join him and another fellow DJ to take a trip to Los Angeles to see cool cats Nickodemus and Quantic headline a day-long event in the heart of the “Toy” District downtown (read: not safe for walking along at night). Also there was Jeremy Sole, the man who was gracious enough to spin wicked songs at the Urban Landscapes 10th Anniversary Party last January. I’ve also met some new folks, and it was awesome to be reunited with Nicko and the Q man. I will have more info and pictures in a blog posting that I hope to have done by week’s end.

I’ll be back atcha soon, so watch out for the blogs. Peace.
